Windows 101

Here's a good visual primer.  Beckerwindows.ca has detailed info along with sample photos of the following types of windows.  Click on the pic to learn more.

Personal opinion:  If you're replacing windows, spring for the window grills.  It's a decorative option and makes all the difference in curb appeal.

Improve Your Listing's Photos with HDR - The Real Estate Tomato

I always wondered what made certain listing photos stand out.

Oddly enough, I was surfing a private sale website and noticed that the photos from each listing were very vivid...like they were pulled from a magazine.

I thought, "I've used professional photographers to shoot my listings and the photos never turned out as good as these! How do they do that?"

Well, the answer was right in front of me. On one particular listing, each photo caption included the room description and the letters "HDR".

I "Googled" that little clue and viola!

I'm looking forward to the proactive efforts of the city so we can safely bike all over town.  Time to park the car and hop on the bike!

Excerpted from the Cycling Master Plan:

"The benefits of cycling are significant to individuals,
our community and the environment.  Cycling is
enjoyable, efficient, affordable, healthy, sociable,
quiet, and a non-polluting form of transportation.

The Burlington Cycling Master Plan is a result of an
initiative identified in the City’s Strategic Plan:
Future Focus VII:

• Goal: Provide an effective transportation
network that moves people and goods
efficiently within the City and neighbouring
• Strategic Action: Build infrastructure to
support the City’s transportation demands,
optimizing traffic flow and encourage
alternative modes of transportation.
• Initiative: In partnership with the Burlington Cycling Committee, update the 10-
year Bikeway Master Plan, including strategies and recommendations related
to financial and other resources required to ensure safe, reliable and fully
integrated infrastructure for cycling."

WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE? Burloak Drive and Upper Middle Road

In 2010, the intersection of Burloak Drive and Upper Middle Road was altered into a sweeping curve.  On the south-west corner, across from the Bronte Woods neighbourhood, there is vacant land.

I have been  asked about its future development and based on the Official Plan on the City of Burlington's website, this area is designated as General Employment land.

For some residential real estate investors, this is not the news they were looking for.  Personally, I would have loved to see new residences in that location.

So, there you have it!
